Pet Wellness Plans in Edgewater Chicago, IL

For your pet to live a long healthy life, they require regular pet wellness plans. Routine Cat & dog exams for the pets of Edgewater and Rodgers Park allow us to check for abnormalities, talk to you about any behavior changes at home, perform necessary bloodwork and diagnostics as needed, and more. We recommend annual exams for most pets, but some may call for two or more exams a year. Puppies and kittens, senior pets, and those with chronic conditions are more vulnerable to illness, and pet wellness care checks help us keep a closer eye on them.

When you bring your pet to us for a regular check-up we cover a range of areas that affect their everyday health. We perform and discuss the following at our cat & dog exams:

  • Nose-to-tail physical exam
  • Bloodwork, if needed
  • Diagnostic screening
  • Parasite prevention
  • Vaccinations
  • Nutrition and weight management programs

We offer vaccinations, flea and tick prevention, and a full line of veterinary diets in-house. Additionally, bloodwork and diagnostic screenings taken when they are healthy help us better understand the extent of the problem when they are ill. For any medications, our full onsite pharmacy will be able to accommodate you.

Wellness Plans: Different Needs at Every Age

Each life stage of your pet deserves its own unique brand of care. Puppies and kittens have different needs than adults, who have different needs than seniors! To properly account for all your pet’s needs, we tailor our pet wellness plans specifically for them.

Puppies and Kittens

Just like any newborn baby, puppies and kittens are vulnerable and require special attention. They’ll need parasite testing, a vaccination schedule, and we may also discuss their diet to ensure they are getting the nutrition they need. We’ll also touch base about a spay or neuter surgery for your new pet. The surgery has loads of benefits that far outweigh the negatives.

Adults
Depending on their lifestyle, adults may require different vaccinations such as Bordetella for kennel cough, or other lifestyle vaccines. It’s also important that their parasite prevention is consistent and any new development such as allergies are swiftly addressed and treated. This time of a pet’s life is typically the least needy, but that doesn’t mean you should stop bringing them to see us! They need thorough exams and updated vaccinations on the regular.
Senior
Older pets, just like newborns, have a special set of vulnerabilities. Now that veterinary medicine is so advanced, pets are living longer fuller lives, which also leads to some of the same issues we suffer from as humans. They are more likely to be diagnosed with cancer, may lose their sight or hearing, and often develop chronic conditions such as arthritis. Bi-annual pet exams help your pet maintain their health well into their golden years. We not only treat them for any malady but can offer advice and treatments for their at-home care that fits into your lifestyle and their needs.
